Throughout the same period, the facility held a one-star overall CMS rating, which fell under the statewide nursing home average of 3.2 in California. CMS evaluates nursing homes with focus on health inspections, staff resources, and resident care quality.

During the first quarter of 2026, Arbor Post Acute had an average daily census of 137.2 residents and maintained 144 licensed beds. The nursing home operates independently from any hospital.

U.S. Census Bureau data show that the older adult population in the nation is rising as younger age groups shrink. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans 65 and older rose by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last 100 years, the older adult demographic has surged from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 research brief found that nearly half of those age 65 and up—around 28 million—could require long-term services and support, and more than a third may ultimately need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
