SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) introduced HR 116 today, a resolution condemning the assassination attempt on former President Trump that occurred on July 13. President Trump was wounded in the attack and narrowly escaped death. Three rallygoers were also shot; one, Corey Comperatore, was killed while protecting his family, and two others were seriously wounded.

“Violence based on someone’s political beliefs has no place in our society,” said Gallagher. “The attempt on President Trump’s life was a wake-up call for Americans to come together and condemn political violence.”

The resolution, coauthored by the entire Assembly Republican Caucus, emphasizes calls for peace from both President Trump and President Biden. It urges renewed efforts to foster civil discourse and encourage non-violence in politics.
