Today, the California Assembly passed AB 975, a bill introduced by Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-East Nicolaus), which aims to expedite the repair of bridges and culverts in Sutter County that were damaged or destroyed by recent storms. The measure, which received bipartisan support, seeks to expand an existing exemption in state law. This would allow Sutter County to bypass certain delays and quickly rebuild essential infrastructure.

Assemblyman Gallagher emphasized the urgency of the situation: “Local roads are still closed and vital farm-to-fork corridors are blocked,” he stated. “AB 975 cuts through the red tape so Sutter County can get moving and reconnect these communities. This is about getting people back to their lives.”

The bill will now proceed to the State Senate for further consideration.
