Assemblyman James Gallagher, representing California’s 3rd Assembly District, has advanced four legislative measures aimed at improving the communities in North State. Each bill passed unanimously in their respective policy committees at the State Capitol this week.
Gallagher stated, “As the North State’s representative in the State Assembly, I’m constantly looking for opportunities to solve problems and make California government work for us. It’s a true honor to shepherd through these important measures that were brought to my attention by local community members.”
The legislative efforts include Assembly Bill 1343, which relates to Caltrans selling property originally bought in the 1990s for a Feather River bridge project. This bill allows Yuba-Sutter local governments to retain revenue from the property sale for future bridge construction.
Assembly Bill 975 addresses damaged infrastructure in Sutter County, speeding up repairs for rural bridges and culverts by bypassing regulatory barriers. Meanwhile, Assembly Bill 1196 requires the state to update regulations on certain cardiovascular surgeries to lessen financial burdens on rural hospitals.
Additionally, Assembly Concurrent Resolution 16 proposes renaming the Feather River Bridge on State Highway Route 20 as the ‘POW/MIA Bridge’ to honor veterans who were prisoners of war or missing in action.
Gallagher emphasized his commitment, saying, “As the legislative process continues to move forward, I will relentlessly advocate for the families, employers, and veterans that make our portion of the state so special.”
Gallagher represents the district encompassing Butte, Glenn, Sutter, Tehama, Yuba, and parts of Placer County.
