Insurance moratorium protects Californians affected by Thompson Fire

On July 11, 2024, Insurance Commissioner Lara announced a mandatory one-year moratorium on insurance policy non-renewals and cancellations for those impacted by the Thompson Fire. The announcement was made in a Department of Insurance (DOI) press release.

The moratorium is in effect for one year from July 3, 2024, for all policyholders in the following ZIP codes: 95901, 95914, 95915, 95916, 95917, 95919, 95920, 95938, 95941, 95948, 95953, 95954, 95965, 95966, 95968, 95969, 95972, and 95974.
