California State Rep. James Gallagher, who serves as the Assembly Republican Leader and represents California’s Third Assembly District, has recently addressed issues of religious messaging and wildfire prevention funding in a series of social media posts.
On January 18, 2026, Gallagher posted about Christian doctrine, stating: “This is not Christianity, it’s a false gospel dressed up to appeal to the masses.
The truth is not a mystery, it has been revealed by Christ:
Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6″.
Later that day on January 18, he commented on public displays of scripture in response to Texas State Representative James Talarico’s stance against posting the Ten Commandments: “Sure post and quote Scripture everywhere.
@jamestalarico says he opposed posting the Ten Commandments because it wouldn’t be ‘loving our neighbor’.
We love our neighbors by caring for them and Telling them the Truth. The Ten Commandments themselves are largely commands to”.
On January 20, Gallagher turned his attention to state policy regarding wildfire prevention funding: “In 2021 I worked with my colleagues to secure record funding, nearly $1 Billion for wildfire prevention efforts.
Every year thereafter the Governor has reduced those funds. Now it’s not even in his budget.
This is unacceptable. We need the funding AND reforms to fast track”.
Gallagher represents communities in Butte, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties as part of his legislative duties in California’s Third Assembly District (official website). He maintains offices in Chico and Sacramento while providing constituent services such as assistance with state agencies and community resources. As Assembly Republican Leader (official website), Gallagher regularly issues press releases addressing legislative matters affecting his district.
His recent statements reflect ongoing debates over religious expression in public spaces as well as continued concerns about wildfire management policies within California.
