California State Rep. James Gallagher, who represents the Third Assembly District, recently posted a series of comments on social media addressing issues of rural representation and professional consequences for public officials.
On January 20, 2026, Gallagher wrote, “This is a very important effort, especially to the North State, as it would restore representation to our rural communities.”
Two days later, on January 22, he posted another message: “Ouch! The truth hurts”.
Later that same day, Gallagher commented on statutory duties and employment bans for public officials: “So if you do the job you are statutorily authorized and sworn to do under the democratically passed laws of our county, you are banned from your profession and livelihood?
Sounds like you are the one who is unhireable.”
Gallagher serves as California Assembly Republican Leader and maintains offices in Chico and Sacramento. He provides constituent assistance with state agencies and offers resources for community needs such as public transportation and domestic violence support. His district includes Butte, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties. According to his official website, Gallagher also shares information on legislative matters and policy positions.
