James Gallagher, California Assembly Republican Leader and representative of areas including Butte, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba counties, made several posts on his social media account addressing issues ranging from gas prices to election processes and political conduct.
On April 14, 2026, Gallagher wrote: “Think gas prices are high now? They are going to go up EVEN more. Because of shortages created by @CAgovernor and Democrat politicians. Refineries shutting down, reliance on foreign imports, CA is now on an island by itself. Supply is and our prices will go “.
In a subsequent post dated April 15, 2026, Gallagher commented on the timing of special elections: “So it’s cool to drag out the election for Doug LaMalfa’s vacant seat… a man of honor and integrity; and deprive his people of representation. But Eric Swalwell resigns in disgrace and the election is fast tracked. This kind of politics needs to end.”
Later that same day, Gallagher addressed behavior he described as harassment: “This is an obsessive psychopath. It’s demonic and evil. Harassing a widow. Nothing about her is Christ-like. No fruit of the Spirit. Repent and be set free. Evil is being exposed and purged. We must call it out where we see it on both sides of the political spectrum.”
Gallagher has been active in offering resources for public transportation and community support as well as constituent services such as assistance with state agencies according to his official website. He has also shared district maps for the communities he serves through the California Assembly.
