California Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher, who represents several Northern California counties, posted a series of tweets on April 14, 2026, criticizing state policy and public figures.
In one post from April 14, Gallagher commented on legislation affecting farm workers: “Perhaps they read the studies showing that it has led to farm workers taking home LESS pay, just as you were warned it would.
It’s bad policy. It’s why the bill was killed TWICE on the Assembly floor until you pulled a shady “gut and amend” combined with your bully tactics.”
Later that day, Gallagher addressed allegations of misconduct by a public figure, stating: “When he says ‘mistakes’ I feel like he should elaborate. If he means hitting on, sleeping with staff & sending unwanted DMs and nudes are just ‘mistakes in judgment’ that are ‘between him and his wife’ then he is a serious narcissistic sociopath. These are disqualifying acts.”
In another tweet from April 14, Gallagher criticized economic policies at both state and federal levels: “Inflation increased by a whopping 20% under Biden, and electricity prices in CA by an average of 12% annually!!! since 2013 under Steyer supported policies. Tariffs have increased inflation .7%. Maybe you should sit this one out.”
Gallagher serves as California Assembly Republican Leader and represents areas including Butte, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba counties. According to his official website, he provides constituent services such as assistance with state agencies and community resources for residents in his district (source). He has also offered resources for public transportation and community support while sharing district maps for the communities served.
