California State Rep. James Gallagher, who serves as the Assembly Republican Leader and represents areas including Butte, Glenn, Placer, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba counties, posted a series of tweets between May 30 and May 31, 2026, addressing both local political activities and national controversies.
On May 30, Gallagher thanked local volunteers for their participation in a recent campaign event: “Thanks to the CA Young Republicans @CYRFGOP volunteers who came up to Chico for Super Saturday!”
The following day, he commented on Democratic political strategies with a pointed statement: “Democrats wanted to appeal to normal people so naturally they rally behind a Nazi sexual weirdo and a Texas minister kid who says God is ‘non-binary'”, (May 31).
Later on May 31, Gallagher questioned the conduct of another public official in a tweet that referenced potential ethical concerns: “This story actually raises even more questions about @jamestalarico:
1. Did he start a relationship with a staffer who worked for him and then a legislator he told to hire her? Isn’t that a problem?
2. If such a relationship is real why would it only now be known/disclosed?”
Gallagher’s role extends beyond social media commentary. According to his official website, he provides constituent services including assistance with state agencies and community resources. The site also highlights his efforts in offering public transportation information and sharing district maps for the communities served. As Assembly Republican Leader, Gallagher has been active in representing constituents across several Northern California counties.
His recent online remarks come amid ongoing discussions about party leadership approaches and ethical standards among elected officials.
