James Gallagher, a notable figure in California’s political landscape, recently shared a series of tweets that highlight his views on governance and policy priorities. His comments reflect criticism of executive actions and budgetary allocations within the state.
On June 13, 2025, Gallagher recalled a past legal encounter involving a restraining order and judgment from the Sutter County Superior Court. He addressed Governor Gavin Newsom directly by questioning his use of executive powers to modify election laws and enforce business shutdowns during the pandemic. Gallagher also criticized the governor’s mandate requiring masks for young children. “Reminds me of the time I got a restraining order against you AND a judgment in Sutter County Superior Court.”
Later that day, Gallagher expressed skepticism towards policies he perceives as overreaching governmental control. He referred to remarks about someone who “wants to unilaterally ban the car you drive and the stovetop you cook with,” challenging the notion of unchecked authority by public officials. “He’s not a King” says the guy who wants to unilaterally ban the car you drive and the stovetop you cook with.
In another tweet on June 13, 2025, Gallagher questioned California’s fiscal priorities by contrasting spending allocations for wildfire prevention versus high-speed rail development. He noted that only $200 million is earmarked for wildfire prevention compared to $1 billion dedicated to high-speed rail projects. Gallagher asked whether these financial decisions align with appropriate priorities for the state. “This budget spends only $200 million to prevent wildfires and $1 billion on High Speed Rail.”
