SACRAMENTO — Governor Gavin Newsom is currently on a tour of several counties in South Carolina, discussing public investment, infrastructure, and economic recovery. While he highlights his record in rural America, the California State Assembly Republican Caucus has issued a public notice to address the situation of rural communities within California.
Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher commented, “While Governor Newsom speaks about forgotten communities in other states, he’s ignored the ones in his own backyard.” Gallagher expressed concerns about Medi-Cal’s status under Newsom’s governance, stating that rural Californians are losing doctors and access to healthcare services. “They’re losing doctors, losing access, and losing faith in a system that’s supposed to serve them. He’s not fixing anything — he’s abandoning them,” Gallagher added.
The notice serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by rural Californians amidst cuts to safety and infrastructure, issues with the bullet train project affecting rural areas, and pressures on local economies. The Assembly Republican Caucus emphasizes that these issues persist while Governor Newsom is engaged elsewhere.
The caucus vows to continue advocating for Californian communities they believe have been neglected by Governor Newsom.
