Following Monday’s Assembly floor session, Legislative Republicans are set to hold a press conference in Sacramento. The focus will be on urging immediate action to enhance California’s wildfire prevention measures and stabilize the state’s insurance market.

The ongoing wildfires in Southern California highlight the need for more effective state intervention to protect communities. Current fire prevention efforts have been insufficient in preventing such disasters.

For years, there have been warnings about the state of California’s insurance industry. Rising rates and the withdrawal of carriers from the state have left many residents without coverage options in the private market. This situation has put the FAIR Plan, California’s insurer of last resort, at risk, particularly in areas prone to fires.

California leaders are called upon to unite in addressing these challenges as they combat fires, initiate recovery efforts, and work towards preventing future disasters.

The recorded livestream of the event is available online.
