The funding for this paraphernalia comes from taxpayer money through the state’s “Harm Reduction Supply Clearinghouse.” This has sparked controversy over the use of public funds in supporting activities perceived as enabling addiction.
Democrat lawmakers have consistently voted against legislation aimed at curbing drug sales and punishing dealers. Additionally, they recently opposed a bill that would have placed life-saving doses of Narcan in schools, despite the ongoing fentanyl crisis that claims thousands of lives in California annually.
Critics argue that these actions contribute to ongoing suffering among Californians by failing to address the root causes of addiction and instead providing resources that may perpetuate it.
