CITY OF CHICO: City of Chico Seeks Community Input on Eight Measures to Address Climate Change

Climate change

City of Chico issued the following announcement.

The City of Chico is hosting an online community workshop to present and obtain input on eight proposed measures to address climate change, which will be included in the Chico

Climate Action Plan Update. Community members are invited to participate online at www.ChicoClimate.com through December 3, 2020. “This update to our Climate Action Plan

will help Chico address the challenges and opportunities presented by climate change,” said Brendan Vieg, City of Chico Community Development Department Director – Planning

& Housing. “We are building upon a strong foundation of environmental successes, but need the community to weigh in so we can continue to prioritize actions for a healthy and

resilient future.” The Chico Climate Action Plan will provide a comprehensive roadmap for how the City will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions over the next 15 years. The eight

key climate action measures shared in the online workshop span across the fields of energy, transportation, waste, and carbon sequestration. The final plan will align with the State

of California’s established goal for all cities to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. Online workshop participants can watch a short informational video, review an interactive

document to learn about each of key proposed measures, and provide their input through a series of questions. The workshop is available in English and Spanish. For media

inquiries please contact Molly Marcussen, Associate Planner, at (530) 879-6808 or Lynda Gizzi, Public Information Officer, at (530) 896-7204.
