The California Air Resources Board has voted to update the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, a decision expected to raise gas prices by approximately 65 cents per gallon. This move follows Governor Newsom's special session on gas prices and comes amid calls for greater transparency from lawmakers, journalists, and the public.

Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher expressed strong opposition to the new regulation, stating, "This is just the latest example of Newsom and his Democrat allies in the Legislature screwing working Californians with even higher costs." He emphasized that Californians have made it clear they cannot afford further increases in gas prices. Gallagher criticized Democrat politicians for blocking efforts to prevent this price hike and suggested they would face backlash from constituents as prices rise again.

Republican members of the Assembly have urged Governor Newsom to halt the implementation of this costly regulation to prevent a significant increase in gas prices.
