Gridley Post Acute is designated as a for-profit facility.

In this period, the facility held a CMS overall rating of four, surpassing California’s statewide nursing home average rating of 3.2. CMS measures look at health inspection results, staffing, and care quality when rating nursing homes.

Reports show that in the first quarter of 2026, Gridley Post Acute served an average of 72.6 residents daily, with a total capacity of 82 beds. The facility operates independently rather than as part of a hospital.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show America’s older population continues to rise as the number of younger people drops. From 2020 to 2024, the group aged 65 or older climbed by 13%, while the population under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last century, the older adult population has risen significantly, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 analysis indicates almost half of adults in this age group—about 28 million people—could need long-term services and support. The research further finds that more than one-third are projected to need nursing home care eventually.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education nonprofit. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
