Call made for people to worry about censorship

An opinion piece on the Enterprise-Record site is calling for people to start worrying about the current trend of big tech companies silencing the voices of conservatives and like-minded people.

Loretta Ann Torres wrote the column and in it she asked the readers if they are aware of the increasing number of websites that are starting to disappear. According to her, big tech companies are weeding out websites that host content contrary to the leftists’ ideals and values.

She said that the path they are on is not beneficial to the nation because the U.S. was built on the foundation that any individual regardless of his or her values and opinions has the right to express his or her mind. What the big tech companies are doing to the country is detrimental to its progress and it will only end in disaster because censoring anyone is an affront to democracy which America is supposed to be known for.

She added that if anyone disagrees with what former President Donald Trump has to say or any of his supporters want to express then the easiest and best way to deal with it is to simply tune them out. It is a much safer alternative as compared to silencing them one by one.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and author Robert F. Kennedy would also support Torres’ point of view because they too are in total opposition of social media companies’ decision to censor any individual who has contrasting ideas to the left.

DeSantis vowed to fight against this unabated censorship and said that his state of Florida will lead the march to protecting freedom of speech. Kennedy said that banning him from Instagram for his views on vaccination only made matters worse for those who are seeking alternative means of protection against diseases.
