Butte County Emergency Management has set up a storm information line for residents to call and gather essential storm-related information. According to the announcement, residents are encouraged to call 530.522.3020 for storm-related information.
The authorities have issued a warning to residents living in areas above 2000’ elevation, advising them that travel is highly discouraged due to the dangerous conditions brought by the winter storm. Road closures and power outages are anticipated as the storm progresses.
In light of the storm's potential impact, Butte County Emergency Management also emphasized the importance of monitoring roof vents, chimneys, and flues for blockages caused by snow buildup. The organization highlighted the risks associated with blocked ventilation systems, including the potential for carbon monoxide buildup and other safety hazards.
Additionally, the National Weather Service provided a forecast for the storm, predicting significant snowfall in higher elevations. The forecast mentioned that elevations above 5000’ could receive up to 12 feet of snow, while elevations above 3000’ may experience up to four feet of snow. Strong wind gusts of up to 55 mph are also expected in the affected areas.
