SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher of Yuba City issued a statement following the defeat of SB 94, a bill introduced by Senator Dave Cortese. The bill proposed allowing individuals serving life sentences for violent crimes to seek sentence reductions.

"Violent murderers deserve to be punished for their crimes. I’m proud we were able to amplify the voices of victims demanding justice, and grateful for the unwavering support from members of law enforcement and district attorneys who helped kill this harmful bill," Gallagher stated. "Republicans will always stand with victims. It’s clear where Democrat’s priorities lie."
