SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher has voiced his opinion regarding Governor Gavin Newsom's decision to call a special session of the Legislature. The session aims to address concerns related to 'Trump-proofing' California.

Gallagher criticized the move, stating, "This special session is a shameless political stunt. The only ‘problem’ it will solve is Gavin Newsom’s insecurity that not enough people are paying attention to him." He expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the session, suggesting that any policies discussed could be handled when the Legislature meets again in January.

Gallagher further commented on Newsom's potential political ambitions, saying, "If Newsom is so eager to set up a 2028 presidential run, he’d be much better served by fixing the crime, homelessness and high costs that will doom his campaign."
