Gallagher criticized the Democrats' initiative, describing it as a political maneuver to benefit Governor Gavin Newsom's career. He urged Assembly Democrats to focus on addressing pressing issues like wildfire, crime, and inflation instead of advancing what he termed as Newsom's presidential ambitions.
