Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) has issued a statement regarding the California Supreme Court hearing on the Democrats' lawsuit to remove the Taxpayer Protection Act from the ballot. Gallagher's comments come in response to what he perceives as an attempt by the governor and his Democrat allies to disenfranchise millions of California voters.
"So much for Gavin’s ‘Campaign for Democracy.’ The governor and his Democrat allies just gave up all credibility with their attempt to disenfranchise millions of California voters demanding a say over their taxes," said Gallagher. He further criticized the lawsuit as "the height of hypocrisy and a disgusting attempt to silence the people they are supposed to represent."
Gallagher also expressed his belief that Californians are dissatisfied with paying high taxes without seeing significant benefits, suggesting that this dissatisfaction is what Democrats fear. "Californians are fed up with paying the highest taxes in the country and having almost nothing to show for it. Democrats know that, and they are terrified,” he concluded.
