The Assembly Utilities & Energy Committee is set to convene tomorrow for an update from the Division of Petroleum Market Oversight. This meeting aims to delve into the reasons behind the escalating gas prices.

Notably, several factors contributing to the high gas prices are already known. The California Air Resource Board is currently considering amendments to California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, a move that could potentially hike gas prices by another $0.50 cents.

The prevalent understanding among Californians is that high taxes and costly mandates are primarily responsible for the steep gas prices. The solution, as suggested by some, is straightforward: provide relief to Californians by reducing taxes instead of sidestepping the real causes of price surges.

Democrats have been pointed out as the ones who should bear responsibility for these rising costs. Critics argue that if they wish to identify the force driving up gas prices, they need only look at their own policies and actions.
